Saturday Is a Special Day It's the Day We Get Ready for Sunday

We clean the house, and we shop at the store, So we won't have to work until Monday

We brush our clothes, and we shine our shoes, And we call it our get the work done day.

Then we trim our nails and we shampoo our hair, so we can be ready for Sunday.

That is a children's song the kids sing at church. These pictures and the way this day has gone reminded me of that particular little song.

Henry is afraid of the shower. I told him if he would get in Nana's shower, he wouldn't be sorry because he could hold the nozzle himself. P.J. of course wanted in on the action.

As you can see Henry is quite enjoying himself.

I had to crop these just right as you can see. I just wanted you to see Henry singing into the shower nozzle. He is really into it now.

Doesn't that look like it feels great. Much to Papa's displeasure this is the only time the double nozzles are needed at our house. I have never been one for the double shower scene. Call me a square I don't care.

We then moved our youngest daughter out of her house and into her in laws place, she lost her job so...... well we all know what is going on in this economy.

My DIL Aisha has been really sick so we checked on her, yes she is still really sick. ( a long story) I told Aishsa and Jamie (our son) I would bring them dinner. We had Italian Crock Pot Chicken Yummy!!

Earlier in the day I threw the chicken in the Crock and we were off to our previously sold hair salon. The new owner shut the doors to the place today. She told Taylor ( My hair stylist daughter, that we built the place for and she ran it until she had to move to New Hampshire. It is another long story. She is a fab hair stylist btw.) Anyway she told Taylor she could have a stylist chair and mat and gave me some of the shelving and some other furniture from the place.

We went to pick it up and something happened to me. I had a melt down. Looking at all the things Taylor and I picked out for the place, you know mirrors, chairs, couches, flooring, etc. Put me over the edge. These were emotions I had not expected at all.

It was like we had put all this hard work and money into a dream that didn't come to pass and now it is just over. I thought the new owner would be able to keep it going and it would still be there for a long time.

Well some times things just don't work out how you planned, right?

I cried for awhile then decided there were a lot more important things to worry and feel bad about, so I decided to get a rope and a chair and really do things up right. Awwww calm down that's just a little of my black humor coming out.

We had a lovely dinner like I already said.

Yes, we had a nice green salad too. We had to get our veggies in before eating this......

I know that is a Christmas bowl. I know Christmas is over, so get off my back. This is Classic Fudge Brownie, vanilla ice cream and Hot fudge sauce. Mmmmmm.

Then Pete ( Tay's husband) washed the dishes while Papa and I were taking dinner to Jamie and Aisha.

That made me a happy girl.

Until I realized my dog Two Dot had peed the bed. She stunk, then I checked her bed and sure enough, pee! I can't get mad at her because she has a condition(another long story) she has to take estrogen, and if she doesn't get it on a regular basis at least once a week she wets herself. She can't help it.
I don't want to get into why the estrogen helps her because that is another long story and this story is already way longer than any sane person would want to read.
I have been remiss in giving her the estrogen, hence the pee, hence the washing of her bed, hence her having to have a shower and, hence her all snuggled into this blanket.
Who could be mad at that.

At least she's all ready for Sunday!!

Got a kick out of your master painter brother and your memories of your wedding day. Very creative with the photos. *L*

Stopping in from SITS, nice post. That fudge brownie, vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce looks To. Die. For. Want to share the recipe for the fudge brownie?

That reminds me of one of my favorite books. Light a Penny Candle by Maeve Binchey. Because there where so many kids in this Irish family, the just took Saturday night to clean up so they looked good for church on Sunday.

Your Papa and my man can be deeply saddened together. My shower is all about me--get in--get out--DON"T TOUCH ME! That dinner looks heavenly and the dog looks forgiven--at least you don't have to boycott your freezer!

My husband is sad about his lack of a showering partner, too. I've just got too much stuff to do in there to be bothered with him. :)

So sorry about your salon. :( I hope all the hot fudge helped you feel a little better. It would me.

Sorry about the salon...sorry it made you so sad. But you have a great attitude...and with a dessert like that...how can you be sad for long!

I'm saddened to hear about your salon- I'm a long time hairstylist, and the economy has really taken a toll on the hair industry. Everyday is a struggle for me, but I hang in there, hoping things will turn around. You'll always have those great memories of when you where there, and how fun it was. Good luck on new endeavors!

I'm so sory about your salon. I can only imagine how much effort, and attention and, well, how much of YOU that was in there. I'm not terribly surprised that you shed a tear.

And you handled it in the bes possible way by having a yummy dinner followed by chocolate and ice cream. I might have said it before, but you're a woman after my own heart : )

Mom told me about Saturday..and just listening to her, and then reading you crying makes me cry. I think it is ok to grieve...hell I am crying and I am in Colorado!

This post was such a rollcoaster of emotions for me, Nana. At first, I laughed at the photos and thought, wow, I want to take a shower at Nana's house, then we moved onto the very sad story of salon closure, and finally we ended with another fabulous recipe that just made me hungry.

I think I need a Diet Pepsi now so that I can mull things over a bit.

There is just so much of that going on today with businesses. My daughter and son in law are going through a terrible time and are on the brink.
Then I read the part about the rope and a chair and didn't get it at first. Then I did...and laughed. So...guess I have some dark humor going on also. :)

Nana, I'm sorry to hear about all this sad stuff going on. I know how you feel. My husband is still laid off, and while he is working here and there because he's on call, he hasn't been officially asked to come back full-time. Hang in there.

p.s. can you share your recipe for the Italian Chicken? I love new crockpot recipes.
