All In A Day........At Nana's

Meet bean, onion and cheese burrito. Izzy came over this morning and yes, they were actually playing burrito. Who plays burrito? Anyway Izzy is cheese, Henry is beans and P.J. is onions.
P.J. assigned everyone to there characters. Cheese caused problems, she kept running away.
We heard "Hey cheese come back here."

Beans and cheese aren't too happy in this picture. Look at Izzy's little head.

Yesterday Chloe came by, she wanted to hold Will. This was great because for some reason Will has always freaked her out. Look at her little arms holding oh so tightly. Will is not thrilled.

We are back to today in this one. Will and I sat here for awhile resting up for our nap. He is saying his prayers that Nana won't roll over on top of him.
For all of you skeptics and disbelievers. Yes dogs can get sunburned. I learned this years ago when my Springer got neutered during the Summer. He was shaved, exposed and embarrassed.
The vet told me to make sure I lotioned him up before he went outside to lay in the sun which I did. Papa was jealous because the dog was getting more action than he was! I told him to go get neutered and we could talk about a few things. I think you all know how that turned out.

Standing Gaurd

This is our sweet dog Two Dot. This is where she stayed while Tay and William had a little nap. (For an hour.) She is the sweetest dog I know, unless you try and mess with her peeps. Yes I have seen her in action. She loves to lay out on our deck in the sun. If you look at her belly you can see that she is sun burned. Time to get out the sun block. Well with the weather we are having right now she won't be laying on the deck for another week.

I just have to tell myself April showers bring May flowers, right?

Cheddar Potato Soup

Posting a soup recipe right now may not be to smart on my part. The weather here where I live changes its mind every half hour, so one day hot next day cold. That's how it goes. I made this soup last week along with my Jiffy Rolls and everyone loved it!!!!!

Ingredients:
1 large onion
3/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup butter
5 cups cubed peeled potatoes
3 cups water
3 cups milk, divided
4 teas. chicken bouillon granules
1/2 teas. salt
1/2 teas. pepper
1/4 cup all purpose flour
5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
1. In a large Dutch oven or soup kettle, saute onion and celery in butter for 5 minutes. Add potatoes and water. Bring to a boil. Reduce hat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
2. Stir in 2 cups milk, bouillon, salt and pepper. Combine flour and remaining milk until smooth, gradually stir into soup. Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat. Add cheese and bacon, stir until cheese is melted.
This soup will serve around 10 people.
It is great on a cold rainy/snowy day!

Breaking News

My youngest brother is a Sheriff here in town, you may think you have seen him somewhere before, but you haven't. He just has one of those faces. Anyway, as of late his job has been more exciting than ever!!. He drove home from work the other morning, ( around 1:30 a.m.) parked his vehicle in front of the house as he gabbed with one of his Sheriff buddies on the phone. ( nothing unusual, they tell each other everything) As he looked up at home sweet home he noticed some idiot was trying to break into his wife's car.

He was in his personal vehicle, not his patrol car. ( it's a long story, he can't take his patrol car out of city limits and he doesn't live in the city blah blah blah) Anyway he said night night to his buddy and calmly sat watching this guy snooping around. (Note to burglar: Keep an eye out for approaching police man) The burglar was oblivious to the fact that the Sheriff was even there. Soon Mr. Burglar realized the car was locked so he moved onto....... get this....... MY BROTHERS CAR!!!!!!! Brother Sheriff was very interested to see how this was going to pan out.

Mr. Burglar reached for the car door. Brother Sheriff was cool as a cucumber, as burglar reached for handle, brother pushed open his door and shouted Stop you $#%&*$ *&!#%& POLICE!!!!

Their eyes met and brother Sheriff heard PFTTTTTTTTT!!!! Mr. Burglar had pooped his pants!

That did not matter, Mr. Burglar twirled around so fast he lost his shoes and ran. The chase was on and yes, the Sheriff was truly sniffing out crime one step at a time!!! After chasing this fool through the neighborhood the Sheriff was able to tackle the idiot. Soon after back up arrived. However, no one wanted said idiot in their car. After a few rounds of rock, paper, scissors the loser carted Mr. Burglar poopy pants off to jail.

Well Brother Sheriff is quite the town hero now. The department gave him a new shirt, his story has been on t.v. the radio and even the Newspaper! I am so proud I could poop my pants.

That's not the only excitement going on around here. On Friday I received this in the mail. Miss Kelly Kelly from A Girl Named Kelly Kelly sent me a package full of her favorite things!!!

Henry and I were very excited.

He liked the popcorn!!

I have to say this was a VERY NICE treat. Her favorite tumbler, gum, lotions, candy, popcorn, note pad, magazine, and last but not least her fav lip gloss!!! The lip gloss is now my new fav also!

Then....... I received this from Rebekah's giveaway. Rebekah is from Tummy Yummies. Now how can you not like a blog with a name like that!

I won a Yoplait gift kid's gift set that the kids went crazy for! I thought I was just winning the water bottle. Awesome, right?

Well I want to thank my Bloggy friends for the wonderful gifts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check them out they are both great ladies.

Thank you again, and Good night all.

I am going to try to keep up in bloggy land. I had to take a little break.

Don't MAKE Me Come Back There!!!!

Remember this? Well times it by two and you kind of have a sense of what has gone on around here today. Both P.J. and Henry (as seen above) woke up in terrible moods. Taylor ( mother to children of the corn) and I went to the gym and walked the track. Devil children were sent to the play room with the baby sitters. Of course there they were good.

On the way home this ensued in the back of the mini van. We did not look like the obviously drug induced mother in this picture.

Taylor had a very one sided conversation with her boys while speeding down the freeway.

"Henry keep your hands to yourself."

"Henry KEEP YOUR hands to yourself!" P.J. is screaming in the background.

"HENRY KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!!!!!!"

"P.J. don't touch Henry."

"P.J.!!!!!!"

"P.J. I CAN SEE YOU!!!!!!!"

Then it happened......

I pulled out the old "DON'T MAKE ME COME BACK THERE!!"

Dead Silence for about 1, 2, 3, seconds.

Then it started all over again. Since I do not make idle threats (something I thought these two had caught on to by now) I had to go wedge my big butt between their two car seats. Finally some quiet.

Until we got in the house. P.J. was being naughty and had to go to time out . This is a leather chair in my living room. He knows if he sits quietly he will get out of time out sooner than later, but does he sit quietly? NO!

This is the scenario: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH deep breath AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH deep breath AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH deep breath AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. After about 20 minutes he was exhausted and realized he wasn't going anywhere and shut up. I also had told him I was going to put him down in the storage room with the Halloween decorations. We fed him lunch. I gave him a cup of cough medicine and he took a nice long nap.

Then Taylor gave Henry some cough medicine, just 1/2 a cup and I proceeded to lay him down.

I tucked him in and told him to close his eyes. He did, then pronounced it was dark. I explained it was supposed to be dark when we close our eyes blah blah blah.... He closed them again. "It's dark. I want mommy." Mommy was on the couch nursing the baby. I told him " just lay here a minute and mommy will come in." I had to repeat that at least 15 times. Then I smothered him with my pillow, problem solved. Don't get your panties in a twist it was just a sweet daydream, he is still living. He finally fell asleep.

Two hours later they woke up and the whole thing started over again. YAY! I love being a grandma.

Lemon Curd Cake...... And Easter Fun

If you are trying to stay away from butter then I suggest you don't look at this recipe!
I make this cake once a year, yes that is how evil it is. I would weigh 500 lbs. if I made it on a regular basis. I can't do that because it's already hard enough maintaining my 300 lbs.
With that said here goes:
Ingredients:
8 ounces sour cream
1/4 Cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 Cup butter (we are just getting started)
2 Cups sugar
4 eggs
2 3/4 Cups flour
2 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. salt
1 teas. vanilla extract
Lemon Curd: Lemon curd is so good I just can't stand it!
1 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
6 egg yolks
4 TBS butter cut into small pieces
Lemon Icing:
2 sticks butter ( 1 Cup )
5 to 6 Cups powdered sugar
1 teas. vanilla extract
1/4 to 1/2 Cups lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Cream or milk to get the consistency you like.
Lemon cake:
In mixing bowl, combine sour cream, lemon juice. Set aside. In large bowl or mixer, cream butter, while gradually adding sugar, beat at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time. In mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternate with sour cream mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat to blend after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 8 inch round cake pans. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely before icing.
Lemon Curd:
In large mixing bowl, combine sugar, lemon juice, and egg yolks. Whisk to blend. Pour mixture into top of double boiler over simmering water. Heat mixture, whisking continuously, until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. ( or your tongue he he ) Remove from heat. Stir in butter, piece by piece, until melted. Cool. Cover with plastic and refrigerate until needed.
Lemon Icing:
In a large mixing bowl beat at medium speed the butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar vanilla, lemon juice and cream. Beat until light and fluffy.
Place one layer on a cake platter. spread with 1/3 lemon curd. Repeat with second layer and then put the last 1/3 of curd on top of cake. Chill, covered with plastic wrap for about an hour.
Then frost.
Yes this cake is worth all the time! Slice it thin because it is so rich that even the hardiest of eaters can't finish a large slice.
Across the street from us there is an empty home for sale. It is next to a very large field my grandsons and niece and nephews like to run around in. The boys spotted all the beautiful flowers , picked them all and brought them to their mothers and father.
I am so glad that house is empty so I don't have to go over there and explain what happened to all of their beautiful flowers.
When they all walked in with their hands full of Daffodils I thought "Oh No!!!" one of my neighbors is going to be really P.O'd.
Here is everyone with their beautiful bouquets.

Jake didn't want his dad to be left out.....

Can you imaging having 5 bouquets of Daffodils ripped out of your yard? Really I can't tell you how relieved I am that place is empty!

This hunk of burning love is single ladies.

And one more time.....

He will probably kill me next time he sees me, but how else is he going to find a nice woman?

Here is everyone getting ready for the Easter egg hunt. Aren't their bags pretty? We got them at Nostrum's.

Henry was not having very good luck.

I caught a few pics of some of the grand kids that still had on their Easter finery.

Miss Chloe.

Mr. Zeke.

Last but not least little Miss Izzy. I hope you all had a great Easter!!!!!
I am very sorry that I can't get the spacing right on my posts.

Life

Lately it seems I do not have enough time or inclination to do my blogging. I just can't seem to keep up with everything.

Today is my 28th wedding anniversary. YAY!!! We are going to go out next weekend because this week has been a whirlwind. I should be cleaning my house right now but, I am going to bed as soon as I finish up here.

My sister in law had a baby shower for my niece Ashle tonight. Ashle was not there as she lives in Washington and we live in Utah. That didn't stop us from having fun and oohing and awwing over her presents.

Before the shower my daughter Megan stopped at my house with Zeke and her hubby Nick.
Things got very quiet (which is not normal with Zeke around) This is where we found him.

He loves dogs. He has always liked to snuggle with our big mean Bull dog. GRRRRRR.

Izzy was there tonight at the shower. This little girl is a hoot!! Her big talent these days is burping like a truck driver.

This one here is causing all sorts of chaos around here and so is the baby. Mom had eye surgery on Wednesday which turned out great, she is doing very well! Her eye already looks better even though it is black and blue. I should have taken a picture.

I think when things get crazy around here I just need to meditate. P.J. has got it down.

My meditation ends up looking like Henry's. I just don't get it quite right.

April 7th was my B-Day. Thank you well wishers!! April 11th is my son Oby's B-Day so we had a birthday bash on Monday night.

Izzy could not wait to blow out the candle. Weston was practicing his ballet in the background.
It's been a fun week however, I am exhausted. I think my get up and go, got up and went. Hopefully next week I will be back to tip top. I have some yummy recipes I wanted to post for Easter. One of them is the frosting on that cake. It is the only frosting I make that actually has a recipe and everyone love, love, loves it!!!! I am not kidding people.
Happy Easter everyone!!!!
