What the Heck!

A week ago today my doctor, he actually is into torturing his patients, took me off of sugar. I should say he put me on a strict diet, which includes no sugar. Did I say I can't eat sugar? Among three thousand other things. BUT SUGAR? Why not liver? I also found out I am allergic to..........

OH, I can't even say it..........Hold on to your hats.................... chocolate AND caffeine. Among three thousand other things. I mean when I found out I was allergic to mushrooms I thought, whatever, corn... o.k. inconvenient. Cheese, well that sucks! Milk, what the H---! When chocolate popped up right after caffeine I said "Let's go out back so you can shoot me in the head!!!!!!!!!

After four weeks with no sugar and all the other crap I can't eat. I can reintroduce these things back into my diet very slowly and see what happens. (I did eat a Lemon Bar, I couldn't handle it. I gave up future blessings for immediate gratification. I know I am a loser! I didn't explode or anything though.) The Dr. thinks if I do this we may get down to my migraine issue. He also believes my body is full of candida (yeast) which can cause havoc. So hence the no sugar thing. If I can get rid of my migraines by doing this then so be it. Just quit making Lemon Bars Megan!! (my pregnant daughter that is craving lemon bars and who just happens to be living with us.)

I will let you know how this all turns out. I will say even though I am going nuts I have lost 4 lbs. in one week. That's right one week.

Some of you may recall that my mom is blind in one eye. Well, now she can't see out of the other to well either. After hearing her complain about her sight and I don't mean in a bad way. Just her being scared that she couldn't see. I told her I wanted her to quit driving.

I had a big sit down with her and dad and poured my heart out about the dangers of her driving right now and how irresponsible it was and blabbity blah blah. So the next day....... I see her zoom out of the driveway, free as a lark. Again I said "What the H---!!!!!!"

This was a Saturday. On Sunday after church we had another talk. On Monday..... ZOOM she is gone. I won't tell you what I said to that.

Let's move on to Thursday. She had a Dr. apt. to see what is wrong with her eye. I couldn't take her to the apt. So... she drove herself. HOLY COW!! Turns out she has a cataract which thankfully can be taken care of. After her Dr. apt. she walks into my front door with two pair of sunglasses on. The goofy kind the Dr. gives you after he dilates your eyes (and also tells you not to drive after said dilation) and her own stylish sunglasses on top of them. She says "Whew that was some drive home, with my eye already bad AND then being dilated I could barely make it home." I was mortified, mad, ready to kill etc. Long story short. Mother is off the streets. Brothers have been informed of her shenanigans and all is right with that part of the world. Mom is being good and asking for help when she needs rides. In two weeks she will be all fixed up.

Moving on...... Zeke, Lemon Bar is his mother. He is so stinking cute and so much fun to have around. He just has one problem he is a busy body, tornado, whirl wind, Tasmanian Devil, I think you get the drift. Lemon Bar was just like him when she was little. Nothing and I mean nothing can be left out. Every door better be shut and the doors leading outside must be locked at all times..... That's so I can't escape!

Then last but not least........

gardening time has begun! I love it but, it takes up a ton of time. So if I am not the best blogging buddy during the Summer you can probably bet I am trying to stay one step ahead of the weeds and Zeke and then of course there is my mom.

Happy gardening to the rest of you fellow gardeners!

Smoky Black Bean Soup

Since the weather is changing every ten minutes where I live. I decided it wasn't too late to give you a good soup recipe I found from Weight Watchers.

This is really really easy to make, it tastes delicious, so what more could you want?

Here we go:

1 tsp. canola oil

1 large onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 14 1/2 oz. can reduced sodium chicken broth

2 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels

1 15 oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained

1 cup prepared mild salsa

1 teas. chipotle chile powder, or chile powder

1 teas. ground cumin

1 cup chopped cooked boneless pork loin

3 TBS. chopped fresh cilantro

1 teas. fresh lime juice

4 TBS. fat free sour cream

2 TBS. chopped scallions

1. Heat the oil in large nonstick saucepan set over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 8 minutes.

2. Add enough water to the broth to equal 2 cups. (I just added more chicken broth. I thought that would taste better and it turned out great) Add the broth, corn, beans, salsa, chile powder, and cumin to the saucepan, bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the flavors are blended, about 5 minutes. Stir in the pork, cilantro, and lime juice, simmer until heated through, about 3 minutes. Ladle the soup into bowls and top with the sour cream and scallions

Give it a try, you will like it!!

Chloe's Event, Out With The Old, In With The New and Getting To See Uncle LaMar

The event to raise money for The No Child Left Behind project was a hit. We all got good things to eat and there was quite the crowd too. Izzy had a great time.....

as did Chloe. Chloe made the rounds visiting.
Her favorites to visit with though were Izzy (behind the garbage can) and Zeke. You will have to go to Tara's blog to see more great pics of the event.

We have also had some new changes around here. Many of you may recall that my daughter and her family had been living with us and moved out last December. Well yesterday my other daughter and her family moved in for a couple of months until they move off to Med school.

That's what I meant with out with the old and in with the new.

This morning I looked out on the deck to find this. Zeke, phone in hand of course and, his new buddy Mr. snowman. I think this is a hoot. I love how Zeke has Mr. Snowman sitting next to him watching the choo choo trains moving along in the distance and the airplanes taking off into the sky. Zeke finds this terribly amusing and he yells " bye bye airplane" as they go off into the wild blue yonder.

Cozying up to his new bud.
I am so mad that I posted this pic. Their is another that is so much cuter, where Zeke has his eyes open. ( I thought that was the one I was posting but, I don't have my glasses on and....blah blah blah) Anyway here it is.

Then my uncle LaMar, my dad's baby brother came to visit. He is on his way back home to Oregon. We don't get to see him much. Of course he wanted to see my house because he has never been here and well, I was not prepared. I was still in my Jammie's for crying out loud. I told him I have to have warning. ( He did give me 10 minutes.) I want people to have a fake perception of how I live. You know everything gleaming and spotless. That perception was shot to you know where today. Ug, my laundry room was a mess. The clothes were clean but still in the baskets, the things that need to be ironed overflowing in their basket. How embarrassing! Oh well.... life will go on, all this and it is only 12:00. I wonder what the rest of the day is going to be like.

Easter Day

Two Dot was happy to see her old pal. And, yes my dad has teeth and, yes they are in his mouth.

Ha, ha, ha, ha,.... where are great grandpa's teeth?

Don't smile Izzy, whatever you do don't smile. (she was pouting)

We decided to line the kids up, oldest to youngest. Get in line you two trouble makers.

Here they are. What a line up. We should have left a space at the end for the three that are missing. (sniff, sniff)

Waiting for the Easter egg hunt was just too exciting.........

or boring. Max seems to be signaling that the line up has lasted too long already.

Weston showing us how he looks just like his dad.

Everyone is signaling that the line up is over with.

Finally, the hunt is on.

The little kids had their own space in the back yard. Notice the candy is just thrown on the grass. Still Izzy seems puzzled.

Must find candy! To say he is intense is an understatement

Izzy is having problems. She filled up her bag and then accidentally dumped it all out. Big brother came to the rescue along with mom and uncle Nick.

Watch this sequence....... Chloe is talking to Zeke. (he understands her language)

" Sure, I will get you some"...

He is trying to give it to her. She is trying to reach......

mission accomplished.

This face sums up the whole day for everyone.
