I never drank diet because I have a very and when I say very I mean VERY health conscious Father In Law who has told me all about how bad aspartame is for many years.
He also knows how bad sugar is in large amounts (as well as refined foods - white flour, etc...and hydrogenated oils - it'll all kill you and it is all in junk food!) so after years of literally drinking sugar all day (coke) I kicked my habit January 1st and I am not looking back.

It has not been easy but now I don't crave it at all. I drink water, I make smoothies with no sugar and it is all good.

Congrats on kicking the Pepsi! You can keep it up!!!CBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16911579093553356167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681892903606043894.post-90676639889294519072010-02-03T17:15:47.920-07:002010-02-03T17:15:47.920-07:00Ugh, I've hated aspertame for the longest time...Ugh, I've hated aspertame for the longest time right along with saccrine and that new crap they've got out now splenda. They taste totally nasty and everything they put it in you can just taste it, it's the nasty after taste you're always left with. Blech!

Good for you for giving it up, I'm convinced that it causes cancer and all manner of other bad stuff! Plus, I suspect it of being a migraine trigger, the few times I've ever eaten/ingested it it's been followed with one of the nastiest migraines in recorded history!

If you see it in your food put get rid of it and run in the other direction!!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14655101499233442222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681892903606043894.post-25646015342288348862010-02-03T15:15:14.858-07:002010-02-03T15:15:14.858-07:00We have to be scientists anymore to know all the d...We have to be scientists anymore to know all the dangers. FDA does nothing, we might as well not even have an agency that's SUPPOSED to protect citizens from dangerous ingredients. I watch Dr. Oz daily and he reveals so much on that show. Read his Real Age books and they are chocked full of good information that will help you eliminate the bad and find the good. My daughter is an RN and she is scared of too much aspartame but I don't think a little would do much harm. She says drinking one soft drink with sugar is much better for you than 2 or 3 diet drinks. I think it is like anything else...good sense and moderation.bjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04432398383127199206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681892903606043894.post-65606912913619009392010-02-03T12:20:19.734-07:002010-02-03T12:20:19.734-07:00This has been a controversial issue for awhile bec...This has been a controversial issue for awhile because I remember everybody on the low carb diet boards (yeah, I did it for awhile) talking about it several years ago. I don't know where I stand on it except to say all things in moderation and that any artificial sweetener is probably only "okay" when limited. Which we humans tend NOT to do, especially when we are trying to cut back on sugar, and you're right - it's in everything!

That said, I have heard that some people when they eliminated all sources of artificial sweeteners have seen some improvement with certain health issues, but I'm not sure that's not just eating better overall and avoiding the artificial stuff from all sources. Truth is, we should all be eating foods that are closest to the source they came from - things that rot naturally - and not packaged foods, or nutritionally bankrupt sources like sodas of any kind. Just my two cents.Mary | Deep South Dishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06030573009618096220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681892903606043894.post-32396299775002482882010-02-03T11:16:17.498-07:002010-02-03T11:16:17.498-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681892903606043894.post-74050922255369852772010-02-03T10:30:06.115-07:002010-02-03T10:30:06.115-07:00Kristina, Kristina, you poor little rat.Kristina, Kristina, you poor little rat.Nanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02300213601564273147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5681892903606043894.post-80732278319365977462010-02-03T10:16:44.213-07:002010-02-03T10:16:44.213-07:00Aspartame has been controversial for a long time. ...Aspartame has been controversial for a long time.
