Three Cheese Rigatoni

I can't believe I haven't made this one for so long, because it is soooooo good!!
1 Pkg. (12 oz.) rigatoni or penne pasta
1 onion, finely diced
2 cloves of garlic, pressed or minced
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 1b. ground pork
1 tsp. fennel seeds (crush lightly)
1 1/2 tsp. basil
1 1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 Cup beef broth
2 cans ( 15 0z.) chunky tomato sauce
1/2 lb. Provolone cheese, sliced
1/2 Cup sour cream
1/2 1b. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
1/2 lb. Parmesan cheese, shredded

Prepare the pasta, following the package directions, then drain well and set aside. During the pasta cooking, prepare the meat sauce.

Meat Sauce:
In a large skillet over med. high heat saute, onion and garlic just until lightly golden in color, add the meat and seasonings. When browned, add the broth and continue to saute until most of liquid is reduced. In a casserole (make sure it is a big dish or 9 x 13" pan) layer the following:
1/2 of the tomato sauce
Provolone cheese
sour cream
meat mixture
Mozzarella cheese
remaining tomato sauce
Parmesan cheese
Bake at 350 degree oven for 30 - 35 minutes, should be lightly browned on top.

This feeds a crowd and is so good on a cold wintry day. Ummmmmmmmm. I might make it tomorrow.
